Just One More...

I promise his will be my last video of Kenna for a while!! = ) She just keeps surprising me. We learned today that not only will she pick the letter off a page, but when I ask her what a letter is, she will tell me. She LOVES this book she found at my sisters house today, so we had to borrow it. She just sat there reading the letters to us while we were in shock!!

Sassy Smarty

************Warning: Bragging to follow************

I know that every mom has their moments where they talk about how pretty, or smart, or funny, or talented their kids are. Well, here is a moment for me. Sorry!

So, it looks like enrolling at Smarty Pants Preschool has benefited BOTH of my girls. I have noticed for a while that Kenna pics up on things I have never taught her. A few weeks ago, I noticed that she has been talking a lot about letters. Usually, she'll see a book or something and shout something along the lines of "a,c,n,r,s!!!" and smile. Well, I never really payed that close of attention, but yesterday my sister was listening to her talk about S and pointed to the front of a book and said "Where is the S, Kenna?" she pointed right to an S on the cover. I thought it was a fluke so she said "how about a T?" Kenna pointed straight to a T, and then a different T. I was kind of baffled. Then this morning I was writing a t and she was sitting on the end of the table and said "Mom, and X!" , well, when I turned the paper to see it from her perspective, it was an X. That silly little stinker is smarter than I give her credit for. This morning, I put a bunch of random letters on a piece of paper and asked her to find them. She pointed to all but one of them correctly.

This one is just of her little personality...being sassy as usual.

And lastly, I wanted to write down (for myself) a funny story from yesterday. Makenna was in the tub and I was standing in the bathroom getting ready for the day. I heard her start to have a very serious conversation with someone...or something. I tried really hard not to look over, because I knew she would stop but what I heard went a little something like this:

"I said NO!!! (pause) You NAUGHTY water, I gonna spank your booty!! (pause... hear splashing or "spanking" of the water) I said NO splash in the eyes!!!! (pause...another "spank") Ok, fine... YOU GO TIME OUUUUUT!!!!!!

She was yelling at the water for splashing her in the eyes. Problem was, she was the one "spanking" the water so that it splashed her. I had tears rolling down my cheeks at the end of her conversation. But Kenna, she was dead serious.

One last minute video. The kid freakin' cracks me up. She is obsessed with the "monica".

Man, I love this naughty little turkey!!!

"Fashion Style"

I am putting the finishing touches on my 2009 blog Book. I decided to go through my pictures folder on the computer and make sure I didn't miss anything. Well, I did. I found these gems which I know the girls will thank me someday for making public, ha ha! Anyway, a couple weeks before Christmas, Marlee told me she wanted to have a "fashion style". She had to explain to me what this meant. Well, it meant photo shoot. It was HILARIOUS to watch she and Kenna do this shoot. They were cracking me up. The wanted to model their shoes first, and then they got their blankets and posing. I was dying laughing. Makenna got her first black eye that week. She fell and went face first into the wood step at my parents house.
Anyway, here are a few shots that were to good to pass up:

Marlee calls this her "woman picture". Not really sure what
that means, but she likes it. lol

Kenna continues to tell us (ALL the time!) that she needs to poop in the potty. 9 times out of 10 she sits there for a while, wipes her little booty and jumps down proud as pie....she just forgets to go while she's up there!

%#@$!*&

I just want to swear right now. Today, I took the girls to the Childrens Museum. We had a blast, I got some great pictures. Unfortunately, you will probably never get to see those pictures on my blog. Somehow I made it home without my camera. No offense to those of you who are point and shoot kind of people, but this was a nice camera. It wasn't the nicest camera ever, but it is a camera we saved for, and that I wanted for quite a while before I got it. Anyway, I went all the way back downtown and made several phone calls, but to no avail. No one knew what I was talking about when I got there. I know where it had been, and it was not there. They told me not to worry, they were "sure it would show up", but I don't think I believe them. I'm pretty sure that whoever took it, took it because they wanted to keep it, not borrow it for the night and return it. I guess I will hold on to my faith in humanity for a couple days and see if it turns up. If not... guess I will just keep crying. It's a really sucky ending to an otherwise great day.

Adventure

Today was Makenna's first trip on the light rail, or the "train" if you ask her. The girls and I ventured out and rode it all the way to downtown Denver today to meet Collin and some friends for lunch. It was hilarious. The girls LOVED it. They thought they were so cool. I think I loved it even more. I can't tell you how much I LOVE to see the looks of wonder and amazement on my girls faces. Makenna was cracking me up. She would gasp and say "ooohh" or "wow" and then when we would go through a tunnel she would yell and say "Mom, that is AMAZING" everyone around us had to chuckle out loud. Her little 2 year old Minnie Mouse voice with with so much excitement. I wish I got that excited about the simple things anymore. Anyway, it always makes me smile. I snapped this picture on the train and sent it to Collin, so he would know we were on our way...I thought it was priceless. We had a great time, and it was worth the stress of braving it alone.
