Personality!

I am finding more and more everyday how much personality my girls have crammed into their little bodies. They have been saying some of the funniest things lately! I'm not exactly sure where they pick some of them up, but they really make me laugh! I thought I better write some of the things they have said to me lately down on here so I didn't forget. I love the idea that Collin's cousin Sam had of doing a "who they are" of her kids at certain ages on her blog, so I am going to give it my lazy mans version for where my kids are right now.
(sorry to rip you off Sam!)
Who She Is: Makenna : 2 years 4 months
She came into the office first thing this morning while I was printing off my lesson for church with a dress up dress draped over her arms, and sweet as pie said,
"put this dress on me please, your highness".

I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard. She even made me put a bow in her hair, and of coarse, I had to take a picture of the moment!
She then went on to tell me at dinner tonight, that she is the queen and I am the highness. She is busting at the seems with personality. We're gonna have our hands full with this one.
  • She LOVES to play on my Iphone (we have created a monster!) and is able to get it out of my purse, unlock it and go to her favorite apps and play with no help from us.
  • Feels the need to hug all the time
  • She LOVES to go....anywhere. She constantly is putting on her "sparkle shoes" and is willing to leave the house with almost anyone who will take her
  • She HAS to have her blankie (which was actually my favorite blankie from birth til, well, she was born!)
  • She still takes good naps
  • She STILL does not have all of her teeth.
  • She can sing her ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle, and several other songs
  • She can tell you almost any letter of the alphabet
  • She LOVES CANDY (she is her fathers daughter)
  • She is both a girly girl and a tom boy....if that's possible
  • She LOVES going to nursery
  • She speaks in complete (and understandable!) sentences
  • She is what we like to call "high maintenance" She knows what she wants, and she will do what she has to (including throw fits) to try and get it.

Who She Is: Marlee: 4 years 7 months

The other night we came home from dinner and Marlee was looking at me like she needed to tell me something. She did. It was

"Um....mom... those boots are SO last season!"

What? Thank you fashion police, and these boots are awesome!

  • She also, loves the Iphone, especially the Make Me A Princess app
  • She prefers to have her hair straight (which I will never understand)
  • She is already very self-conscious
  • She loves to eat smoked white fish with cheese and fruit for lunch (food snob)
  • She loves to dance
  • She loves preschool
  • She is getting better and better with her writing skills every day
  • She is stubborn
  • She has one of the most tender hearts of any child I have ever met
  • She has to have her blanket and her monkey to go to bed
  • She is a movie-aholic
  • Is obsessed with brushing her teeth and washing her hands
  • She is smart, but scared to try new things
  • She is fiercely loyal. Once a true friend, always a true friend

Just wanted to have a quick look at who my girls are at this point in their lives. They change so much every day it seems like. I love who they are as individuals and wouldn't have them any other way!

Quick Visit

A couple of weeks ago, Grandma and Grandpa Earl came to visit. It was a really quick trip, but it was SO fun to see them. Our girls really miss them when they are gone.
Friday morning we picked them up from the Colorado Springs airport and showed them Collin's office. We went to lunch with his boss, and then went around and looked at some houses. Marlee spent the whole day attached to Grandmas hip! We went to Garden of the Gods and had a nice walk around the park. It is gorgeous there and it was a prefect day. We saw these CRAZY climbers while we were walking. They made me SO nervous!
(once again, these were all taken with my Iphone, so I know they suck)We drove through Manitou Springs (a REALLY cool little town where we went on our honeymoon), and then decided to head back down towards Denver. We met my parents and our friend Ryan at Jim and Nicks for dinner and then went to a late showing of Percy Jackson (which I actually enjoyed!).
Saturday morning, we woke up and I did moms hair (she always want her hair done when she's in town) and then went to Smashburger. We met some good family friends Connor and Katie and their precious baby girl (kind of made me baby hungry!). They live fairly close to us, but for some reason we still hadn't seen them since we moved back.

After that we hung out for a bit and then had to take them to the airport! I HATE that they had to leave so quickly, but LOVE any time we can get. We are kind of the "outcasts" now, if you will. 3 of Collin's 4 siblings now live in Boise and see each other all the time, so we have to live it up when people come here to visit!

(Kenna finally got to wear her I Love Grandpa shirt) Thanks for a great weekend! We miss you already!!!

Easter 2010

I have been in a total blogging funk lately. I don't know what my problem is. Actually, I think a big part of it is not having my camera anymore. It takes a lot of the fun out of blogging because I don't love the pictures I am taking and don't have as much fun taking them. Oh well... anyone sick of hearing about my stolen camera? I know, I mention it almost every post, but I didn't realize how much I loved, or used it til I didn't have it anymore.
Anyway, our Easter was fairly quiet. Went to one Easter egg hunt with my sisters and dyed some eggs. We didn't do near as much this year as we did last year, but that's ok.
The girls were SO not cooperating the morning they wore their Easter dresses to church, so the pics I got of them are not great. At least, you can see what they wore and get an idea of how cute the looked!

They had a blast dying eggs at Jenn's house. I even bought them Easter donuts! I'm pretty sure that was Kenna and Owen's favorite part!

The hunt: Makenna thought it was fun...for about 60 seconds, then she decided she wanted me to find all the eggs for her...

and spent the rest of the time like this:

The Easter bunny left them each a "tu-tu" outfit, some princess slippers and a Disney movie. And then they searched for their eggs!

No David!!

Yet another video. I can't help it lately with this girl. Plus, without my camera I am taking far less pictures. Anyway, Kenna loves to read the book No David. The other night I went to read it to her before bed, and she took it and said "no mommy, I read it to you". So, I let her. Much to my surprise she knew the words on every page. Given, it is not a real tough book, but I was surprised that she could remember the whole book and exactly what was on each page. She freaking cracks me up. This is the second book she is now able to "read" to us. The other one is even longer. What a funny little chatter box.

Locks of Love

Two hair posts in a row! This week, I had me first experience with Locks of Love. My sister Angie let me chop her hair 10 1/2 inches to donate it to the cause! It was the first time in almost 9 years of cutting hair that I have done it. It was a super cool experience, and I hope it won't be my last. I would chop mine tomorrow and send it in...they could probably make two wigs with my hair at this point...unfortunately, it has been bleached in the past, so they don't want it. Oh well! Anyways, I love Ang's new look and I am proud of her for doing it, and letting me be a part of it. Love ya Ang! The result:

Longer Than It Looks

Kenna's hair doesn't seem to be as curly as Marlee's, but it it obviously curly enough to be deceiving.
She saw me straightening Marlee's hair the other day and wanted hers done too. But, what I saw when I was done shocked me! It looks so LONG! It made her look like such a big girl! For now, I need her to stay my "baby", so this won't be happening very often!
Normally:

After straightening:
