8 Weeks!

I put her in these "real clothes" yesterday. I thought she
looked SO old! It was totally an outfit I would wear. I love Old Navy!
Thanks Chan for the great baby wear! Makenna was 8 weeks old yesterday. I am just so shocked at how fast the time is flying by. She literally changes everyday SO much! Its amazing. She is still a very well behaved baby. I took her shopping over the weekend with my friend Paris and we were gone from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and she never made a peep...really, not one! She is just such an angel. She is pretty much always that mild mannered, unless she is really poopy, or really hungry. She is starting to smile and coo and I absolutely LOVE it! Marlee and I caught her laughing in her sleep the other day. I have NEVER seen anything so cute/funny on a new baby. Hilarious! She loves her swing (lucky for me!) and usually will sit in it long enough to put Marlee down for a nap, or do the dishes. The no-dairy thing is getting a LITTLE easier, but it still sucks! But, she is TOTALLY worth all the torture!

Other than that, its been life as usual around here. Collin is waiting to hear back about his Masters application and then we will be able to decide where we will be for the summer.

Marlee is doing well. She adores her baby sister and always wants to hold her
and take her in the bath with her. 2 nights ago I put Makenna in the baby bath inside the big bath while Mar was bathing, she thought it was SO cool! When I got the baby out, this is what I came back in to find...
Thanks for the strategically placed arms and legs Mar!
She was just hanging in the baby bath pouring water on her tummy. Singing a little song. Too funny. I think sometimes she does things like this cause she wants to be the baby. Funny girl.

Welcome Owen!!!

My sister, Jenn, had her baby on Tuesday. His name is Owen, and he is DARLING! He was 7 lbs. 11 oz. And 20 1/4 in. long. She made the same mistake I did and waited too long before asking for an epidural so she had him naturally (ouch!). I am proud of you sis, I know it wasn't easy! Now we both know better the next time around! lol. Here he is, I can NOT wait to see him, and bless him and Makenna together! Welcome to the family Owen!

Family Resemblance?

Makenna and I had our 6 week check ups yesterday, even though it has actually been 7 weeks now. We are both doing great! She is 10 lbs. 10 oz. and is 22 inches long. She is 50% for both weight and height. I had her in this cute little outfit today for story time so I dug out an old picture of Marlee wearing the same thing to really see the differences and similarities between them. I laughed so hard when I found it! I don't ever remember Marlee looking like that! She really did have BIG eyes as an infant! Yet, I thought she was literally THE single most beautiful baby in the world. Isn't it wonderful that love is blind sometimes? JK! (keep in mind, this is not the most flattering baby picture I have of her!! lol) I still think she is the most beautiful 2 1/2 year old ever! Anyway, what do you think, is there any family resemblance?

Family Date Night

Yesterday we went down to Sioux City. It started off as a pretty quick trip just to go to Sally's and get Marlee some shoes. We left here at about 11:15a.m. and got home around 8:00 p.m.
When we got down there we did what we went to do, but then we went to the mall and wandered and then kept finding other things to do. We ended up going to an early dinner at a chinese restaurant and then going to see Enchanted at the $3.00 theatre there. It was Marlee's first time going to a "big girl movie" (in the theatre)...since she was a baby at least. It was so funny to watch her. I would've been perfectly content not even seeing the movie and just watching her the whole time. Even the previews got her excited. She kept throwing her hands over her mouth and giggling and then she's get wide eyed and just say "wooooow". It was TOO cute! In the scenes where they sang or danced, she would get out of her seat and do it with them and just laugh. It was awesome. I kept looking at her, then over to Collin who also thought it was pretty funny, and last down at Makenna asleep in my arms and think how lucky I am. It was SUCH a fun day with the 4 of us, and I feel so blessed to be so content with my life right now. I am a lucky lady. Thanks for a wonderful day guys! I love you.

V-Day Bash

Marlee's little friend Hallie had a Valentines party on Thursday. All the kids in our complex went to it. It is so funny when they all get together, it is a total mad house. The kids all got cake and ice cream and then ran around screaming til it was time to go home. Kenna and Paisley were both there and so I got a couple pics of them together. I can't believe how fast they are growing! They are about the same size now even though Paisley started off a pound and a half bigger. It was fun to have something to do while daddy was at school...even if I had to handle the crash from her sugar high all alone! Thanks Nicole and Hallie for a fun day!
I had to put this last picture up Rachel. I thought it was so funny both girls screaming and you still have a smile on your face! Love it!

6 Weeks...Some Good News and Some Bad News

Well, Makenna is 6 weeks today. I can NOT believe how fast the time is flying by. She changes so much each and every day. I wish I could stop time and just enjoy her as a new born just a little bit longer. She is such a sweet baby, I love her more and more every time I look into her sweet and newly chubby little face. We went to the doctor today to re-check the whole Milk (protein) allergy. Good news is she weighs a whopping 10 LBS. 2 OZ. Which means she has gained just under 4 LBS in 6 weeks! She was so tiny when she was born, I made the mistake of thinking she would stay that way and never get as chunky as Marlee once was. My mistake, she is chubbing up very quickly!
The bad news is, it is a Milk Allergy. Unfortunately for me, I will be on my new dairy-free diet for the next 6 months when we will then try to intergrade some dairy products and see how she handles them. Even worse, I thought she might lighten up after the 2 week trial and let me have SOME stuff (like the stuff that isn't all dairy, or an obvious dairy product)...NOPE! Anything with Milk listed as an ingredient! Bummer! Oh well, obviously it is working for Makenna because she has gained almost two lbs in the last two weeks, and she is totally worth the sacrifice!
In other news, we are SLOWLY breaking the idea of Potty Training to Marlee. We got her some "cool alert" Princess pull ups and she has been telling me all day she has to go potty on the potty, but then nothing. I think she is just afraid of wetting the Princess pull-up and having to throw it away! Ha..in time I guess.
Collin is sick. He was sick all weekend which totally sucked. I so look forward to the weekends and the time he can put the Law asside and we can just "be". I was totally bummed that the time finally came, and of course it hit him on Friday night. LAME! So far, the girls and I have been able to remain healthy which is a blessing, I am just ready for him to be back to normal!
I sat in the doctors office for TWO HOURS, and then on the way home had to go get Collin from school (he came home sick), and when we got there we got a flat tire, so we had to hang out at the Law School for an hour (which I am sure the other students just loved!). Anyway, it was a crappy day, but I got to go to the gym and work out some frustration which always helps, and who can stay bugged when you come home to a face like this!?!?

I love the deer in headlights face! Marlee did it ALL the time when she was a newborn. So funny.

Why Me?

WARNING: Whining to follow..

Monday Makenna was a little bit fussy which is not normal for her. I went to the gym Monday night for about an hour and a half and when I got home, Collin told me she had been crying the whole time I was gone. She had been spitting up A LOT the last several days, but I didn't think it was anything to worry about, until Monday night I noticed that there was little specs of red in her diaper. They continued through the night and into Tuesday morning. So, I called the DOC. I took her in, and after being examined the doctor told me she thought Makenna was allergic to milk. What she tells me next, I was not prepared to hear. If I want to continue nursing (which I absolutely do), I have to start a NO DAIRY diet. Meaning....pretty much ALL my favorite foods fly out the window. I can't eat ANYTHING with Milk products in it. Say goodbye to pizza, my nightly hot cocoa, chocolate, CHEESE, ice cream, doritos, soups, cream cheese, cream sauces...you name it, nada. I know I am being a big ol' baby, but COME ON! I spent all day today reading labels in my pantry...you would be amazed at some of the things that have dairy in them that you wouldn't guess. Anyway...I have to look at a whole new diet and a serious lifestyle change. I will do what I have to do for her health, but I am still holding out hope that it could possibly be something else and I will only have to do this for a few weeks....cross your fingers!

Grandma and Grandpa

Collins parents finally made it out for the weekend to meet Makenna. It was SO good to see them again. We definitely do not get to see our families enough. They got in on Thursday late, and had to leave today and to me, it was NOT enough time! I always love having family come visit, and it makes it that much more special having a new baby for them to meet.

Marlee loved having them here and despite a few Princess sized temper tantrums she was really a pretty good girl. We had a lot of good food and just hung out. I always enjoy catching up with them, they are such good company. Kenna got a lot of cuddle time and Marlee got some much needed attention too. Mom, Dad.....you been gone for like an hour and I MISS YOU ALREADY! COME BACK SOON!!!!
